The city of Green Bay is the county seat of Brown County within the State of Wisconsin, in the USA. The city is located at the head of Green Bay which is a sub-basin of Lake Michigan and is situated at the Fox River. The city has an elevation of 177 m or 581 feet above sea level. The city of Green Bay is situated 112 miles or 180 km north of the city of Milwaukee. Based on the census of the year 2010, the city had a population of 104,057. The area along the Fox River where it empties into Green Bay became a natural stopping place for the French voyagers, woodland Indian tribes, fur trappers and Jesuit missionaries as far back as the 17th century. In 1634, this are became the very first settlement of Wisconsin, 14 years after the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock.

The area was initially settled by the French, before being driven out in 1763 by the British. The British maintained the area until after the war of the year 1812.
